Step Out

Matt 14:28-29

28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

To have a life in the Spirit, one must be courageous enough to obey explicitly to the command of God. If one thinks too much of the surrounding circumstances, one will never make the first step.

We can make negative comments on people who act rashly and sometimes dangerously, but we should appreciate the fact that they have the guts to take the first step while others stay back in fear.

When Jesus commands us to come or go, our response should be to obey Him. Even though sometimes His commands may go against our human reasonings. Could we be like Peter, to do what Jesus said?

It takes faith to make the first step, especially to tread the path none has ever walked. The hardest part is to take that one step out of the boat and onto the water. So many thoughts surge into our tiny brain. If we give them the privilege to linger, we will never make that step.

We want the supernatural, but we cannot fully trust the word of God. We actually doubt His ability to do what He has spoken or His power to cover us when anything goes wrong. Our actions will prove if we really trust Him totally when He commands us to do something.

Is there anything we have not trusted God totally even though He has told us to ‘come’?
